Cotton Logistics Provides Solutions in the Wake of the Avian Flu Outbreak
The Cotton Logistics Environmental Division was deployed in early June to assist with cleanup efforts in the wake of the Avian Influenza epidemic that has affected millions of turkeys, chickens and egg-laying facilities in the Midwest. Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska were the hardest hit and have all declared states of emergency in multiple counties.
The blow to the industry has caused widespread layoffs and the shortage of turkeys may interrupt some traditional Thanksgiving traditions. The influenza has been contained to poultry and has not been transmitted to humans in the U.S. Cotton Logistics was able to utilize a recent Cotton Holdings Inc. acquisition of OneTeam Staffing who was instrumental in the procurement and placement of specifically trained and accredited personnel to assist with clean up and management efforts.
