Petrochemical Industry Hurricane Temporary Housing
Loss Event: Hurricane
Project Overview: Following Hurricane Dorian, many residents in the Bahamas were left without homes and adequate shelter, including the employees of one of the largest petrochemical facilities in the Western Hemisphere. Cotton Logistics, in conjunction with Cotton Culinary, was tasked with setting up a temporary housing community with turnkey services that could fully support the health and safety of plant employees and their families while operations at the facility continued.
Cotton quickly coordinated the international deployment of assets and personnel to the Bahamas. Upon arrival, Cotton began installing lodging units, shower trailers, portable restrooms, laundry facilities, a dining tent, and mobile kitchens. A desalination and reverse osmosis system was set up to convert sea water from the harbor to over 5,000 gallons of potable water per day, in order to support plant operations and provide fresh water resources for employees and their families. In addition, the Cotton Team provided 24-hour on-site security and meals three times a day, totaling over 6,400 meals served throughout the duration of the project.
