Chemical Plant Hurricane Temporary Facilities & Food Services

Loss Event: Hurricane

Project Overview: Following a devastating Category 4 hurricane in Southwest Louisiana, a leading chemical company contacted Cotton Logistics and tasked the team with providing temporary facilities and services to employees at their site. Together with Cotton Culinary, Cotton Logistics provided food, laundry, and showers for the company’s employees despite changing deadlines and schedules, the threat of a second hurricane, and a global pandemic. Over the course of the project, the Cotton Logistics team provided approximately 1,000 meals every day for employees and managed the installation of temporary shower and laundry trailers despite a temporary shut off of power due to the hurricane.

Turnkey Services Provided:

  • Set up assets prior to the storm’s landfall and returned to the plant the next day to begin the meal service
  • Chef created menus for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and midnight meals, based on the client’s needs
  • Cotton Culinary made operational adjustments as the client phased in their supporting contractors and ramped up the plant’s operations
  • Supplied a semi-trailer to store ice and ice freezers to keep food fresh for the daily meals
  • Mobilized shower trailers and laundry units for use by the client’s on-site employees
  • Collaborated with the plant’s site services team to install the temporary facilities where the client had indicated and ensured they had access to a water supply and sewer line
  • Provided the linens, towels, and toiletries for the temporary facilities
  • Kept shower and laundry trailers clean and fully functional
  • Worked with the plant’s safety team to ensure proper protocols were being followed
  • Demobilization and site restoration once the assignment was complete
