How Cotton Logistics Designs & Develops Emergency Camps

When disaster strikes, many are left without food, shelter and access to other essential resources. The team at Cotton Logistics understands how this can impede on recovery, and we’re here to help with innovative mobile camps that we can deliver to disaster areas. Discover how we do it, step-by-step.

1. Assessing & Understanding Emergency Response Needs

When it comes to mobilizing assets into an area impacted by disaster, no two projects are the same. There are multiple challenges and specific needs that are unique to each community, and we take the time to assess the concerns and develop custom solutions. Here are some of the questions our experts will consider:

While some resources, like our mobile offices, are only necessary for specific circumstances, we do have a list of assets that are standard for a typical emergency camp, including laundry trailers, bathroom trailers and shower trailers, so we will factor those in as well.

2. Analyzing Safety Concerns for the Temporary Camp

Every emergency site comes with its own unique hazards, but our health, safety and environment (HSE) team has the experience and expertise to develop a plan to keep all employees and mobile camp guests safe.

They will scope out the site where we will build the camp, as well as the current state of the community as a whole following the disaster, and develop protocols for the team to follow throughout both the construction of the camp and the upkeep and maintenance for as long as the camp is in use. They are also knowledgeable about local, state and national regulatory requirements, so they will ensure all aspects of the camp are up to code.

3. Developing a Custom Housing Design for the Emergency Camp

Once the Cotton Logistics team has a good understanding of the needs of the impacted community, we’ll start to lay out a design for where all of these resources will go once they arrive on-site.

All of Cotton Logistics’ assets are modular, meaning we can adjust the layout of the camp to a greater extent and create the perfect environment for your camp’s needs. This also allows us to make the most of a very small space while still optimizing for functionality. Another benefit of the modular camps is that they’re scalable and flexible, so the team can deploy more facilities over time if you find you need to accommodate more people.

4. Deploying the Temporary Assets & Constructing a Camp

The modular nature of our assets also allows for rapid deployment and assembly, and with resources and offices strategically placed throughout the country, we’re able to mobilize efficiently once we have approval. When we arrive, we’ll quickly begin assembling your camp and ensuring it’s up to code so you can start using it as soon as possible.
